Summer Solstice Mandala Workshop

Summer Solstice Mandala Making Workshop
Wednesday, June 17th | 7:00–8:30 PM

The summer solstice is one of my favorite days of the year, a luminous turning point when the light is at its fullest. It is an important time to connect, celebrate, & create. To honor this transitional moment from spring to summer, I am hosting a special mandala making workshop on my beautiful screened-in back porch in Beaufort. We will gather, slow down, drop in, and let creativity lead the way.

The evening will include:

  • A short guided meditation to open the creative channel and invite in a seasonal intention

  • All art supplies

  • A delicious homemade dessert and herbal tea

Learn more about mandalas:

In Sanskrit, the word mandala means circle. In Buddhism, the mandala represents the universe. The shape is also a reminder that everything moves in cycles. For me, the act of drawing a daily mandala symbolizes the universe of opportunity available in each moment, which is particularly supportive in transitional times. A mandala is an invitation to let creativity lead the way and to express emotions nonverbally. Mandala making is a practice I did with my dad for many years and it is one of the most accessible and easy ways to be creative daily.

I started the practice of drawing mandalas at 8 years old when my aunt Gretchen, introduced me to the art of mandala making. She showed me how to begin with an empty circle and let intuition guide me. The practice of drawing a daily mandala has supported me for over 25 years, helping me to express joy and process grief and emotions through colors, shapes, designs, patterns, and lines. I love that each mandala is an unrepeatable artistic expression of the moment.
