Rooting Down, Letting Go: A Grounding Workshop for Vata Season ~ October 21st 6-7:30pm

In October the wind picks up, the leaves let go, and temperatures drop. In Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga, this is called Vata season, the time of year ruled by air and space. Vata brings movement and creativity, but too much of it and we can begin to feel ungrounded in our bodies and minds. Some common signs of Vata being out of balance include cold hands or feet, restless sleep, a mind that won't settle, anxiousness or worry, a nervous system that feels scattered, and overwhelm. The medicine for Vata season includes slowing down, staying warm, and getting grounded.

This workshop is my offering toward balancing Vata and supporting rooting into fall. We'll move through a grounding yoga practice with longer holds, warming breathwork, and hands-on assists to help you feel settled and calm. From there we'll move into a meditation to help your body do what the trees are already modeling: releasing what is no longer needed so we can enter winter a little lighter. Rather than forcing anything to fall away, we are creating enough stillness to make letting go possible.

We will close the workshop by going over simple, easy practices to support your health and well-being in this season while we enjoy a special seasonal herbal tea.

Come ready to move slowly, breathe deeply, and ground into autumn.

Pricing

The workshop is $50. I take cash, check, or Venmo. With only ten spots available, registration for this event requires payment in advance. To prepay through Venmo, send payments to @Elizabeth-Bertram or email Betsy at Elizabeth.bertram1@gmail.com to arrange cash or check payment. Location

Craving Art Studio (121 Craven Street) Learn more about Heather Sink and Craving Art below.

Much gratitude to Heather Sink, owner of the Craving Art Studio for hosting us!

Heather, a native of Britain, was fortunate to end up in the coastal town of Beaufort with her husband. After teaching art to students in the North Carolina public schools for many years and raising two children she decided to focus on her own art work.

Heather belonged to two Plein Air groups in England and has continued to paint her surroundings in the many places she has lived. Fortunately, the coastal light and area offer an abundance of subject matter to paint. She loves learning and takes workshops from artists that inspire her.

Heather loves to teach and work with other artists. Her desire to create and connect with the community has made Craving Art Studio a wonderful studio to work and share her love of art with others.
